Madeira Tourism was honoured with the \u201cSmart & Green Tourism\u201d award at the 5th Smart & Green Tourism Conference, an initiative promoted by Ambitur and Ambiente Magazine, which took place at FIL \u2013 Parque das Na\u00e7\u00f5es in Lisbon, as part of BTL \u2013 Lisbon Travel Market.<\/p>\n\n
The award recognises organisations that, throughout their history, have demonstrated a consistent commitment to sustainability, environmental and social responsibility, as well as to the responsible development of the tourism sector in Portugal. The award ceremony took place in the AVK Auditorium (Pavilion 5), bringing together institutional entities, companies and key players in national tourism. <\/p>\n\n
The awarding of this prize to Madeira Tourism comes at a time when the Region is consolidating its position as an international benchmark destination in the area of sustainability, the result of a structured strategy and continuous work to monitor and improve performance.<\/p>\n\n
For the Regional Secretary for Tourism, Environment and Culture, Eduardo Jesus, this distinction \u2018represents recognition of the path that Madeira has been consistently following, integrating sustainability at the heart of its tourism strategy.\u2019 The government official emphasises that \u2018more than an award, this is validation of a collective commitment involving the Regional Government, businesses and the community.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n
