Campaign Urges Protection of Madeira’s Forests
The Regional Government of Madeira, through the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture and the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN), has launched a new campaign for forest fire prevention. Under the motto “A safe forest depends on all of us”, the initiative aims to protect human lives, safeguard environmental assets, and ensure the sustainability of the Region’s economic model.
The campaign promotes a participatory approach, engaging residents in forest areas, farmers, tourists, public and private entities, with a strong focus on awareness-raising activities in schools. Informative videos and radio spots will warn of risky behaviours and encourage land clearing and reforestation.
Activities will run from June to September, with additional efforts during events such as the Madeira Rally, and will be widely publicised on television, regional radio stations, and official social media platforms.
