Drones acquired by the IFCN aid in rescue operations
The Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation has stepped up environmental monitoring in the Autonomous Region of Madeira with the acquisition of new drones equipped with advanced technology, an investment supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). This equipment enables the collection of detailed data on the territory, contributing to the surveillance of forest areas, fire prevention and the monitoring of ecosystem changes.
In addition to the environmental management aspect, the drones can also support search and rescue operations in hard-to-reach areas, thanks to their long-range cameras and integrated communication systems. The use of this technology thus strengthens the protection of the territory and demonstrates the potential of innovation to support more sustainable management of natural resources.
