Madeira Museums Honoured by APOM
The Portuguese Museology Association (APOM) has granted three awards to museums in Madeira, recognising their efforts in preserving and promoting the region’s cultural heritage. The Madeira Ethnographic Museum received the “Partnership” award for the community project “Onde a Lã Vive”, and the corresponding temporary exhibition received an honorable mention. Additionally, the Colombo Museum in Porto Santo also received an honorable mention in the “Incorporation” category for donations that enriched its new museography.
Besides these awards there is also the recognition of the RTP-Madeira programme “Museums with History”, (colocar o título original) which highlighted 12 museums and museum centres across the region. The Regional Secretary for Tourism, Environment and Culture, Eduardo Jesus, emphasised the role of museums as active agents in education, research, and cultural enjoyment.
