Madeira stands out with 10 sustainable projects at the ODSlocal Awards

The municipalities of Funchal, Porto Santo and Santa Cruz have joined the ODSlocal Platform, an initiative that promotes the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Madeira is competing with 10 projects that address environmental, social and economic issues, seven from Funchal, two from Porto Santo and one from Santa Cruz.

The projects range from social inclusion to environmental preservation. They include:

  • Centro Porta Amiga Funchal (Social support and inclusion
  • Olho-te (Inclusion through art)
  • CO-ABRIGO (Housing for homeless people)
  • HOPE.SMALL GESTURES BIG HOPES (Solidarity through donations)
  • CASAS AMIGAS (Support for vulnerable groups)
  • City Bubbles (Sustainable tourism)
  • Dançando com a Diferença (Inclusive dance)
  • Renascer@Nogueira (Environmental education and creative recycling)
  • LIFE DUNAS (Recuperação do ecossistema das dunas de Porto Santo)
  • Pxo@EmpoweringFutures (Inclusion and skills development)

The awards will be presented at the ODSlocal 2024 Conference on 22 November at the Expocentro in Pombal. The event will also highlight other sustainability initiatives across the country.
