Porto Santo Without Marine Waste

“Porto Santo Without Marine Waste”, is an initiative held in Porto Santo Island that aims to appeal to residents and visitors to help protect the biodiversity of the island, reducing plastic waste. The aim is to make everyone on the island aware of the need to think about what they bring in, consume and what they discard in order to mitigate the damage caused to marine life.

In the scope of this initiative, the stamp “Porto Santo without Marine Waste” was created, which intends to mobilize all the economic agents to join the initiative, through actions of plastic waste cleaning, in the reduction of the use of disposable plastic and in the increase of its separation. The audits carried out in the adhering companies are dynamised with the support of student from the Primary education and CACI – Centre for Activities and Training for Inclusion. Currently, more than 35 establishments already have the “Porto Santo without Marine Waste” stamp.
