Portway promotes 100% sustainable aviation assistance operations at Madeira Airport

As part of the “Green Days” initiative, held on May 30 and 31, Portway promoted 100% sustainable aviation assistance operations at Madeira International Airport.

Several of the operations, carried out by the handling company, were done with 0% CO2 emissions.

Taking into account the characteristics of Madeira’s Airport, whose short distances allow the use of electric and manual equipment with efficiency gains, minimising environmental impact, Portway decided to accelerate its investments in the region, having recently acquired an electric “Ground Power Unit (GPU)”, which allows the supply of energy to aircraft when parked, without resorting to fossil fuels. With this important investment, it is now possible to guarantee 100% sustainable operations.
