The Views Hotel Honoured for Good Lighting Practices

The Views Hotels Group, on Madeira Island, has been awarded the Platinum prize for ‘Night with Life’ for its three establishments (The Views Oásis, Monumental, and Baía Hotels). This recognition, awarded by SPEA Madeira, is due to the good lighting practices adopted by the group, which include reducing light pollution, reducing the intensity and number of light points, and installing motion sensors in the gardens. During the critical months for seabirds, between October and November, the hotels undertake to reduce outside light. In addition, hotel staff have received training on the impacts of artificial light on biodiversity and humans, promoted by the LIFE Natura@night and LIFE Nuns projects. These projects encourage the adoption of sustainable lighting practices to protect nocturnal biodiversity.
