CMF has launched a pilot scheme for the collection of bio-waste from restaurants
Funchal City Council has started a pilot scheme to collect selective door-to-door bio-waste, aimed at the restaurant sector in Rua da Carreira. The initiative includes the delivery of free containers to 17 restaurants to collect waste such as shells, coffee grounds and other organic waste. This waste will be sent for composting, promoting the circular economy and reducing waste.
The project will gradually be expanded to other areas of the city with a high concentration of restaurants, such as Sé, Fernão Ornelas and the Old Town.
