National Sustainability Day
On September 25, the Regional Secretariat of Tourism, Environment, and Culture , marked National Sustainability Day with several environmental awareness initiatives in Madeira.
One of the actions involved collecting trash along the PR6.4 – Levada Velha do Rabaçal hiking trail, in partnership with IFCN and DRAM, also encouraging hikers to pick up any litter they came across.
DRAM also promoted the initiative “Conscious Plate 2026 – Savoring Sustainability,” aimed at encouraging hotels to reduce food waste and highlight local and seasonal products.
These initiatives support and strengthen environmental protection and the promotion of more sustainable tourism, contributing to Madeira’s economic, environmental, cultural, and social development.
