250 people took part in DRAM 2026’s first beach clean-up campaign

Between 9 and 13 March, the Regional Directorate for the Environment and the Sea (DRAM) organised the 1st Beach Clean-up Campaign of 2026, an initiative that brought together 250 participants from various institutions, including schools and Centres for Activities and Training for Inclusion, covering eight municipalities in Madeira. The initiative resulted in the collection of 220 kg of waste and the removal of 1,925 cigarette butts and filters from the seven beaches where the campaign took place. DRAM would also like to thank everyone involved for their commitment, reinforcing the call for the correct separation of waste and its proper disposal as an essential way to protect the sea, reminding us that small gestures today ensure a cleaner ocean tomorrow.
