The “Formação + Próxima” programme brings together municipalities in Madeira and Turismo de Portugal
Turismo de Portugal, the Association of Municipalities of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (AMRAM) and the Madeira School of Hospitality and Tourism (Madeira Hotel and Tourism School) have signed a cooperation agreement that brings the region’s 11 municipalities into the ‘Formação + Próxima’ programme. The initiative aims to decentralise training provision, tailoring it to the specific needs of each area and enhancing the skills of professionals and organisations linked to the tourism sector.
The programme is based on conducting local assessments to identify training needs, enabling the development of plans tailored to local authorities, businesses and their staff. The initiatives cover technical and behavioural skills, promoting a culture of hospitality, innovation and the enhancement of destinations, thereby contributing to a more skilled, competitive and sustainable tourism sector.
With Madeira’s participation, ‘Formação + Próxima’ reinforces its commitment to human resource development, territorial cohesion and the sustainable development of the destination, promoting the enhancement of local communities and the strengthening of the skills that underpin the quality and resilience of the tourism industry.
