More than 30 institutions took the magic of Christmas to Caniço Shopping
More than 30 institutions, including schools, day centres, community centres and activity centres, brought the magic of Christmas to Caniço Shopping. Under the theme “Let’s decorate Caniço Shopping … conserving nature”, a competition was launched to carry out Christmas decorations, with the exclusive use of reused materials, at practically zero cost, and 1,573 accepted the challenge. The Regional Secretary for the Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Susana Prada, visited the location decorated with Christmas artwork and presented the prizes to the winners of the competition.
The competition “Let’s decorate Caniço Shopping…conserving Nature” consists of carrying out Christmas decorative works to be exhibited at “Caniço Shopping”, with the exclusive use of reused materials, at practically zero cost.
This is an association between the Instituto das Florestas e Conservação da Natureza (Forest and Nature Conservation Institute) and Caniço Shopping, which has been taking place for 13 years.
The activity is aimed at pre-school, 1st and 2nd year students from Schools, Occupational Activities Centres, Day centres and Community Centres, with the aim of raising awareness and educating regarding the reuse of materials, making young people aware of the reuse of materials and the respective reduction of waste and emissions, for a more sustainable planet.
The 2021 edition took place while being adapted to the new measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. 30 Institutions were accepted, with a total of 1573 participants. “Caniço Shopping and its partners” offered participants a Gift Voucher worth €100 per institution for school supplies (€3,000 total).
