Government and UMa united for sustainability

On 24 September, the University of Madeira, in partnership with the Regional Government, organised a clean-up operation at Praia Formosa beach involving 90 students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management.

The initiative, held as part of the National Sustainability Day and World Tourism Day celebrations, strengthens the link between academic training and the tourism sector, encouraging young people to take an active role in projects connected to the environment and responsible tourism.

According to the Regional Secretary for Tourism, Environment and Culture, the action symbolizes the commitment of Madeira’s Tourism sector to a model of sustainable development, where tourism and the environment go hand in hand in protecting natural resources and engaging the community.
