Câmara de Lobos turns into a European film set against racism
Teatro Metaphora hosts 20 young people from four European countries who are in Madeira to turn a reflection on prejudice, discrimination, and exclusion into a film
Using cinema as a tool for raising awareness and educating about diversity, promoting cooperation among European youth, and encouraging respect for differences and the fight against racism, a European film project dedicated to combating racism, discrimination, and social exclusion took place in Câmara de Lobos from September 5 to 12.
The initiative brought together 20 young people from Portugal, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Germany, who worked together on creating and shooting a film about diversity, identity, prejudice, and inclusion. Filming took place in various locations throughout the municipality, including the facilities of Teatro Metaphora and Escola do Rancho.
The project is coordinated by the Luxembourgish organization De RESO, in partnership with Teatro Metaphora and other European entities, and is funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program.
After filming, the movie goes through the editing and post-production stages, and its presentation is planned in the participating countries. Educational materials aimed at schools and youth organizations will also be developed.
