Regional Government monitored fire prevention work on Estrada do Curral das Freiras
The Regional Government of Madeira, together with the Câmara Municipal of Câmara de Lobos and the Parish Councils of Curral das Freiras and Santo António, monitored fire prevention work on Regional Road 107, which provides access to Curral das Freiras.
The interventions covered about three kilometers of road and a ten-meter-wide stretch, including strategic tree cutting, vegetation cleaning, and the creation of firebreaks, aiming to reduce fire risk and protect homes and local populations.
The work involved collaboration from the Regional Directorate of Roads, Civil Protection, the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation, and the Câmara de Lobos Volunteer Firefighters, who remained ready to respond to any incidents.
This initiative was one of the measures taken by the official authorities, which was carried out successfully with the goals set to prevent rural fires, increasing road safety, protecting people and property, and facilitating access in case of an emergency.
