Bus passes and tickets will be available on your mobile phone and can be used throughout Madeira

Madeira is preparing to modernise its public transport system by digitising bus passes and tickets, which will soon be available to purchase and use directly on a mobile phone. The new platform will allow the use of digital tickets via QR codes, valid across the region’s three operators — Horários do Funchal, Rodoeste and CAM — promoting greater integration and simplifying travel across the island.

The measure represents an important step in the digital transition and in promoting more sustainable and accessible mobility solutions. In addition to the online purchase of passes and tickets, the new system includes information panels at bus stops and screens on buses with real-time information on routes and timetables, contributing to a more efficient, convenient and attractive public transport experience for residents and visitors.

By encouraging the use of public transport and reducing reliance on physical processes and unnecessary journeys to purchase tickets, this initiative reinforces Madeira’s commitment to sustainable innovation and smart mobility.
