Solidarity campaign collects almost two tons of waste in Madeira
A solidarity campaign promoted by ERP Portugal, in partnership with the Regional Government of Madeira, the Presença Feminina Association, and Pingo Doce, collected nearly two tons of waste from electrical and electronic equipment and used batteries in the region. This initiative saw the participation of the public, ensuring the proper routing of waste for recycling and recovery.
The Regional Secretary for Tourism, Environment and Culture, Eduardo Jesus, highlights the combination of sustainability and social responsibility, stating, “The mobilization of the population not only allowed for the proper handling of more than 1.8 tons of waste, but also supported an institution that carries out essential work within the community.”
The Director-General of ERP Portugal, Rosa Monforte, stated that the initiative also helped to support the work carried out by the Associação Presença Feminina with vulnerable families, and believes that the results demonstrate a growing environmental awareness among the population. With the conclusion of the initiative, ERP Portugal and Pingo Doce reaffirm their commitment to environmental awareness and to promoting solutions that facilitate recycling within local communities.
