“Flavours at the museum” reveal the “secrets” of velvet pudding
The Madeira Ethnographic Museum continues its series of culinary workshops, ‘Flavours at the Museum’, presenting the recipe for Pudim de Veludo at the session on 19 March. The activity, which takes place at 11.30 am, will be led by Sandra Cardoso, who will share the recipe inherited from Basilissa Fernandes, focusing on the preservation of traditional techniques and flavors that span generations.
The workshop is open to people of all ages, with a limited capacity of 50 participants, and registration must be made via the Museum’s usual contact details. This initiative is the result of a partnership with the Atremar a Ilha Association and the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture, with the main aim of promoting the region’s culinary heritage through the sharing of family memories and traditional knowledge.
According to Regional Secretary Eduardo Jesus, projects such as this are of great importance when it comes to preserving Madeira’s intangible heritage and strengthening collective identity. He also emphasized that by linking traditional cuisine to museum spaces, authentic experiences are created that bring the community closer together and help keep alive the traditions that form part of Madeira’s history and cultural heritage.
